Colin McShane Inventory Services (of which Colin McShane Interior Styling is a division) was formed in 2008, primarily to serve the need for the compilation & checking of detailed inventories for letting purposes but soon & by demand from estate agent contacts, the business was steered in the direction of staging properties for the sales’ market.
Through word of mouth, Colin McShane’s reputation for getting properties presented to a standard such that they not only sold but sold quickly (inc a number of properties that previously had stuck on the market not selling) grew & our interior services became ever increasingly sought after.
Today, the company is almost solely focused on interiors work. Home Staging remains a specialty & our interior design services overall – from plan drawings right through to new kitchen & bathroom installations, redecorations & of course furnishing schemes – has also grown with demand & Colin McShane is the first point of call for many of the best known & respected names in Edinburgh property.
Colin McShane Interior Styling is a long-standing member of the Home Staging Network, and Colin McShane himself is a Fine Arts Valuation graduate of Southampton Institute & co-founder/co-Director of GirCo – the Stockbridge-based interiors boutique purveying modern antique & vintage furnishings & accessories.

Having become & practiced as an auctioneer, I changed direction & moved in to property management & estate agency resulting in a long, happy & successful spell & association with DJ Alexander.
The skills of my early career inc the know-how to source good, interesting & stylish furnishings led me in to furnishing & styling many properties for the letting & sales markets & soon I was also successfully project managing redecoration & renovation projects.
The marriage of all my work-life skills it seems had led me to a position of being able to indulge & make a living from creating & transforming interior spaces, often within tight budgets but whilst still managing to add value… Even as a child I was known to move a chair or an ornament ever so slightly to create a better effect! Our Process
The process of a Colin McShane furnishing commission begins with a visit to the property to ‘get a feel for it’ and assess the full requirements. Our furnishings (both new and pre-owned) are sourced from a number of suppliers allowing your property to be uniquely presented and being able to source quality pre-owned and antique furnishings, we can provide our clients with robust pieces that will last longer than some lesser quality new furnishings but without compromising on style.
We are also able to work in harmony with any refurbishment or upgrading works to ensure that any furnishings supplied complement the property overall.
